Sugar cane plantations are an important part of Kauai’s history. Learn about life on a sugar cane farm with a visit to this interesting Kauai Attraction.

About Grove Farm Museum:
For more than 150 years, sugar cane was the top crop on Kauai. Today, visitors to this Attraction on Kauai can do more than learn about daily life on a sugar cane plantation – they can see it in action.

The Grove Farm Museum continues to operate just as it did in 1870. From cleaning methods to farming tools – everything is done just as it was in the mid-19th century. This makes this Attraction on Kauai a fascinating way to see Hawaii’s past brought to life.

Explore the grounds during a leisurely tour that will take you to the buildings and gardens. The tours are led by a local who understands both the importance of sugar cane in Hawaii’s history and who can answer questions about how the plantations were run.

During your tour, which will last about 2 hours, you’ll visit the Plantation Office, the Wash House, the Wilcox Home, the garages and old shed, and many other buildings. Each building is interesting in its own way. For instance, the Wash House was built in 1920 and is the place where all the Plantation’s laundry was done. Tours also include the grounds and gardens.

The Grove Farm Museum also has a collection of steam locomotives that are a particular hit with younger visitors. Once a month, free rides are given on these trains. Check with the Museum to see if this monthly Event will take place during your visit.
