Kauai Events | Prince Kuhio Celebration
The Prince Kuhio Celebration is an Event on Kauai that pays homage to an important figure in Hawaiian history.
This Event on Kauai pays tribute to a man who was part of the last Hawaiian royal family and who worked hard to improve the lives of the Hawaiian people.
About the Prince Kuhio Celebration:
In 1893, the last Hawaiian royal family was ousted from power. One member of that royal family was Prince Jonah Kūhiō Kalaniana’ole. Each year, his life and his work are remembered and celebrated at this Kauai Event.
As a member of the royal family, he sought ways to make life better for the Hawaiian people. One way he did this was by starting the Hawaiian Civic Club movement. His goal was to improve lives in several ways including financially, socially, and educationally.
The Prince Kuhio Celebration includes several Kauai Events. The first, a concert, will take place on March 20th. The rest of the Activities are scheduled for later in the week.
