About Exploring Oahu Waterfalls:
There are many Oahu Things to Do that allow you to spend time with nature and to enjoy being outdoors. One of those Honolulu Activities is exploring some of the waterfalls that are located nearby. The picturesque waterfalls are featured on many of the postcards sent from Oahu, but there is nothing like visiting them in person.
You’ll find that you can explore Oahu Waterfalls on your own or as part of a tour. There are many waterfalls to see. Some are easy to reach while others involve a bit of a challenging hike for which the reward is a breathtaking view of the falls.
Waimea Falls is a great choice when you want an easy hike. The lovely falls form a pool where swimming is welcome. This is the only Oahu Waterfall with a lifeguard on duty and the convenience of changing rooms. Lifejackets are also available. This is a perfect pick for a family day out.
Manoa Falls is the closest to Waikiki. This hike to see this waterfall is flat but it can get quite muddy at times. This area gets more rainfall than any other part of Oahu. Even when the trail is muddy, the hike is not particularly difficult. If you just keep on the trail for an hour or so, you’ll reach the falls.
Maunawili Falls Trail also features a pool at the bottom that is tempting for those who want to take a dip. While you’re welcome to do so, you do it at your own risk as no lifeguards are on duty.
LuluMahu Falls is a good choice for those who want a hike that is a little more challenging. It takes most visitors about 40 minutes to reach the falls. Because the hike is more challenging than those listed above, there are far fewer hikers. It’s not unusual to be the only person on the trail. For that reason, it is important to use a map, let someone know where you’re going, and bring along a buddy.
Laie Falls Trail is located on the North Shore not far from the well-known Sacred Falls. Sadly, Sacred Falls has been closed to the public for many years due to safety issues, so many hikers choose to explore Laie Falls instead. Reaching the falls requires a 2.5 mile hike over moderate terrain.
Don’t miss the chance to enjoy this popular Oahu Thing to Do during your next visit to the Island.
