The Honolulu Century Ride is a popular Oahu Event that draws avid cyclers from around the world.
About the Honolulu Century Ride:
Celebrating its 34th year, the Honolulu Century Ride is the biggest bicycling Event in the state. Thousands come to participate in this 100-mile ride, but you don’t need to have a goal of finishing the entire course to compete.
As you can imagine, the course is breathtakingly beautiful. You’ll start at Kapiolani Park and, depending on how much of the course you complete, some of the sites you will pass include Diamond Head Crater and the Hawaii Kai district. You’ll pass by Sandy Beach, Sea Life Park, and the gorgeous Kanehoe Bay. At Swanzy Beach Park, the 100-mile riders will turn around and follow the route back to Kapiolani Park.
Not every rider will complete the full 100 miles, and that is fine. T-shirts are given to those who complete 25, 50, 75, or 100 miles. A shorter fun ride takes place on September 25th, the day before the main Event in Honolulu.
Stations are set up along the route providing energy drinks, water, food, first aid, and spots where you can fill your tires and handle other maintenance needs. Because drinks are available at points along the route, some riders suggest not getting weighed down by carrying extra water.
Participants are invited to attend the Pasta Party the night before the event. Packets are available for pickup during this party, which takes place from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. near the bandstand at Kapiolani Park.
Some riders come back year after year for this Event in Honolulu. The gorgeous views and the chance to complete such a milestone Event make it easy to understand why. Lots of Oahu Hotels are located near the race course, so reserve your room now and make plans to take part in this exciting Oahu Event.
